Education Program

MRC intends to address the training and assistance required to understand both a Montessori and an urban community classroom. MRC will offer training to foster a classroom that emphasizes: a comprehensive and authentic Montessori pedagogy; the construction of classrooms as developmentally prepared environments; Pedagogy of place–culturally responsive teaching; and Family and Community Engagement.


SUMMER 2025 DETAILS & INFORMATION:


Who: Anyone interested in pursuing Montessori Certification through a MACTE accredited training program. MRC is currently in the process of pursuing AMS affiliation.


What: MRC offers two summers of in-person Montessori teacher preparation, with a two year student teaching component.  For those completing their student teaching (Residency) at the Montessori School of Englewood, they will receive frequent Coaching and support alongside their practicum experience A 90% attendance for academic coursework, over the two summers, is required for completion of the course.


When: June 16th -  August 1st (no classes on 6/19 in observance of Juneteeth; and no class on  July 4 for Independence Day); Classes begin promptly at 8:30am and end at 3:45pm (with 45 minutes for lunch).


Where: In partnership with the Intercultural Montessori Language School, summer classes will be held at their West Loop campus (114 S. Racine Ave., Chicago).

For the Early Childhood (EC) program, academic sessions will be held over two summers: 7 weeks the first summer and 3 weeks the second summer. A practicum in a classroom follows each summer. The internship phase requires a practicum over two school years and four consultation visits over those two years.

  • Institutes:
  • Seven weeks Summer I​
  • Three weeks Summer II
  • Practicum: 6 hours a day in a classroom, 5 days a week for 9 months (2 academic years, in total).​
  • Consultant Visits: four total, two each year.
  • Written Reports:
  • Book Reports​
  • Observation Reports
  • Theory Essays
  • Exams (oral and written)
  • Adult Learners take exams only after all academic hours, practicum hours and assignments have been completed.

For those pursuing Elementary 2 (Upper Elementary) training, the prerequisite for the first summer is Elementary 1 (Lower Elementary) training. See above.

For the elementary I-II course, academic sessions will be held over three summers. Practicum hours in the classroom, span over two academic years.

Cost of the Primary Course is $3,000/summer ($6K total)

Cost of the Elementary 1 Course is $3,500/summer ($7K total)

Cost of the Elementary 1 & 2 Course is $3,500/summer ($10,500 total)

 

The above cost covers the In-Person Instructional Courses (both summers); Additional fees apply to obtain a complete set of Montessori Albums ($50/album for EC & $75/album for Elementary); Additional fees may apply towards the 4 Practicum Site visits to your school, depending on location.
